From rehearsal rooms to Venice

Matt has been a musical director and choir leader for over twenty-five years, working across the classical choral tradition, musical theatre and popular choirs. He’s conducted over fifty shows with chorus and band — Sweeney Todd, Carousel, Sister Act — and taken choirs from Monday-night rehearsals to Vivaldi’s Gloria in Venice.

During lockdown he recorded Glorias and Requiems with hundreds of singers online, organised six YouTube Choirshows featuring more than fifty UK choirs, and founded ChoirLab. In 2022 he won the Sir David Willcocks Carol Competition with With Wandering Awe.

As an accompanist and sight reader he’s equally at home in jazz, classical and show music.
